Hopefully you mean 2.0 GHz!

You must get the correct voltage regulator module. Most of the time this means getting it from the machine's manufacturer. The exception is if HP used a 3rd party motherboard and/or VRM. I'd try to find the correct HP part number for the VRM and google it, you could get lucky.

You do not need to get the CPU from HP, but there are two things to keep in mind.
1) It is strongly recommended, or required, that the sSpec number of the CPU you get match the sSpec number of the CPU currently in the PC. The sSpec number is something like "SL9RX", which is printed on the CPU.

2) The heatsink my be an issue. If your machine appears to use an OEM heatsink (intel branded) then you can get the OEM packaged Xeon as long as you've sourced the VRM elsewhere. Otherwise you may not have much choise but to order it from HP.

As a final word. HP most likely has an upgrade kit that comes with the CPU, VRM and heatsink. I suspect manufacturers use proprietary VRMs and heatsinks on purpose to force consumers to buy the upgrade kit from them.
