To Clarify;
The motor on the left is a Platter Motor [a stepper motor,of a similar type to what LUDI describes-This one has 11 connections on the control cable-Others vary eg 7 connections]
The motor in the middle is a load motor;but the same is used in stand alone CD/DVD players ,as a platter motor [cheap]
The motor on the right is a Sled Motor ,but also used as a load motor,sometimes.
The centre and right ones are Two Terminal D.C. Motors.Neither have any internal control circuitry.
Apon scrutinizing some old Computer CD drives;it appears they use mostly stepper motors[for greater control and acccuracy]
If that,s what you have;a simple stepper controller[circuits readily available] and a bit of ingenuity;might help you test it.
