Maybe the video card is overheating, if not try to change/update the catalyst drivers the latest version is 7.7 (I think).How did you connect the Plasma to the video card? If via DVI port maybe you are stressing the port with such a big LCD.
Or it could be your video card try changing it with other one and see if the artefacts stii apear
