My choice would be to go back to XP cause Vista has so much candy on the OS...What you have runs Vista as is but the Puter world esp Microsoft is headed for major changes that will require more than Socket A so don't spend $'s on outdated hardware. DDR2RAM is here for good with DDR3 coming and PCIe is here along with SATA.
Then there's Software which will want dual cores or more esp for Multitasking/media. Soon 64bit will be the demand for the OS with 128bit in sight ...
You have way more than 2 Options so don't sell yourself short
