I agree, installer files, self-extracting .exe's, etc. shouldn't move or delete themselves (unless they're those 200kB front-ends that download the real installation file, in which case I don't mind, so long as the actual installation file stays put). You might be able to stall that portion of the installation process by putting a read-only flag on the file after downloading it.
