Transferring Music (e.g. LP to CD)

Many people wish to transfer their music collection into a more convenient (and durable) format. For example:

* an individual may wish to put their LP collection onto CD; there are also companies that provide this service for clients;
* DJs may need to copy their LP or CD collection onto a PC or other device for ease of portability; and
* businesses now copy music onto iPODs or other devices in order to provide their background music.

The transferring of music from one format to another in these circumstances is not exempt from copyright. In order to provide clients with a simple and efficient way of complying with their copyright obligations, AMCOS can offer individuals and companies a blanket licence that covers the reproduction of the musical work for certain specified purposes.

To find out more about how to obtain a licence and what it covers, contact "THEM".
