Could be numerous things...here's a few other things to consider:

IDE HDrive (Primary OS) is formated in FAT32 and the Seagate is NTFS so it can't be read (esp if OS is in98)

Your BIOS SATA setup is set in RAID and tou want to read a single SATA HD

No SATA Drivers in the OS for the SEAGATE
