It turns out that it was in the BIOS memory timing settings. I verified it with Mem86+ testing cycles. What a pain in the butt... I had to change several of the auto (default) settings to fit the real memory timings that my system can handle at default speeds.

OTOH, I am suprised how well XP can handle memory errors. Generally, I always get a frozen screen or a stack dump, if it was the memory. Go figure. :?
