First off a floppy drive does not use the IDE interphase, the floppy uses less wires in its cable. Now a 1.2 MB floppy drive can write in 360 KB so it covers both sizes of floppies. You may need to into the BIOS CMOS setup on your newer computer to active the new 1.2MB FD. A better method of connecting two computers would be to use a crossover cable for the serial port = a slow speed or a crossover cable for the parrallel port which is faster. But all 3 methods including the floppy drive are slow by todays standards. Laplink is a program that allows communication between two serial or parrellel ports to exchange file or run programs on the other computer. |
