Re: Repetitive chkdsk using XP

Yesterday, I did some low level checking on my system. I was fearing the worst with my SATA drives.

Turns out, everything mechanically works fine. It was data files that were causing the problem, in other words the drive was dirty. I could not figure out why that I could not do chkdsk even in safe mode. I had to dismount the partition to get chkdsk to work. Chkdsk did its thing and I was able to defrag in XP. So far, no problems, but I will keep an eye on the partition
