When you power up your computer go into your CMOS SETUP like keep hitting the Delete key or the F2 key. In the power management section make sure the ACPI is set to Enabled. Its weird I just bumped into this myself I set this to disabled & my win 98 booted fine but win XP HE keep resting the computer very early on in the bootup process. My Hard Drive is a dual boot with win 98 first & win XP the second OS.
