One day after The Inquirer's Nebojsa Novakovic discovered that Intel had inadvertently (or perhaps someone from inside Intel happens to love AMD advertently) used an image of a Tyan K8QS motherboard, which is a 4-way AMD Opteron solution, in an opening IDF presentation, Intel has pulled the slide.
The irony here is that the slide was entitled "What will it take?" referring to what it will take Intel to get ahead. The answers given on the slide were:
- Operating System
- Communication and Storage
- Display
- Standards
Platform Energy-Efficiency
And all of this sitting atop an AMD-based solution that has all of the above.
So what is it Intel is striving for? According to Intel's own Chief Technology Officer Justin Rattner, who gave the presentation, it's an Opteron-based solution "as seen here"!
