Heres what happened fast foward a bit past what I went thru & I did the OCW 2 BIOS flash & I was digging around inside the CMOS setup & no real settings were changed or added. I dug around in LEDs new link & everybody is raising a bus speed I can not find. Not one single xtra enter key menu to pick from to speed this CPU up. Then I hit the enter key on CPU many times & the speed jumped to 300 WTH & an down arrow key dropped the speed slowly. I stopped looked then tried typing a # & bingo it worked, roflol thats how its done. I have not seen this used were everything was menu driven but a value or two is thrown in directly without going into a submenu.
Anyways after the flash my system died only the the CPU fan came on, note I have no speaker hooked up either so it could have been beeping. I unplugged most everything nata, then I unplugged 3 of the 4 RAM moduals then the system booted. Only now I could only manually pick 7x multiplier & 1 volt tops, WTHeck. Rememer I did not do the volt mod or add the big typhoon yet (will do volt mod tonight, cooler when I install into the case tuesday), temp was still low thou chipset seems to get very hot also. Anyways I rebooted & it fixed itself, this BIOS is unstable & picky, MEM timing T1 froze system before the OCWbios flash.
The tests I did do was @ 1.4v very quickly & still does not look well for OCing the opteron 175 as I even had trouble getting the normal speed (2.2 GHz) with the multiplier dropped 1 bin from 11x to 10x & the buss at 220 from 200. So far it seems that the opteron 165 was the best choice as my middle of the road 175 & is near its limit. I will redo the test with the voltage at the mas 1.55 tommorrow as I really need the break.
Bob
