Actually I finally read more of this yuck. But the point I get from this piece you need to deal with your local office.
Now what if the installer showed up & your computer had no network card. Then he would have installed a network card or used the USB port then. You see when I got cable installed along time ago I got a free 10 Mega bit card thou long since pulled & sitting near new modem, sent thru snail mail.
Basicly your ISP job is to provide internet service to one computer unless you requested extra computers, I would have to pay xtra. They will break up a network if they see one cause its not on the service install request & you are only paying for one. Also the installers might lose there job if they set you up to network (liked used your USB port), if someone from your ISP found out how you were hooked up.
I dont know about you but I had to sign a lenghtly fine printed form to get the installer to start working. I am willing to bet one computer only clause is in there & covered well. In the end I am sure your ISP have covered there ass's covered well.
In the end you could have written down all your new network settings & tried a USB cable after the installer left. So I see both points. My network got setup long after the installer was here & I did not allow a browser of any kind on them for a long time, they were for a gaming LAN only.
