Interestingly I came back like 15 minutes later and turned it on again and it went back to the original "hard drive out of range" message and I hit F1 and then tada windows boots up and it sees all the drives again.

I turned it off and back on 2 or 3 times and it did the same message and then with F1 booted windows. Then I started doing things on the system for about 2 or 3 minutes after windows booted... opened and closed a program... then i went to open the control panel and the whole system just froze up, no mouse movement, ctrl-alt-del useless.

So I forced-powered it off. Turned it back on and now it's back to "F1 for retry boot" and the BIOS not seeing any IDE drives.

Strange.
