OK, I broke down and installed a second NIC in the HP (xp) and configured everything for ICS. It took care of all my problems and got the Compaq online to boot. I'll run ICS until I get the router. I got a little worried because the internet connection on the Compaq seemed a little sluggish- much quicker than the 56k modem was, but not as snappy as surfing on the HP. So, I looked at the specs for the Compaq, and find out that the onboard NIC is only a 10Mbps connection. Do you think that is what makes this one so sluggish? Would installing a 10/100 card help? I only have to use this darn Compaq until I get some PC2100 memory for the other HP.

THANKS for your help, everyone!
