I just bought a 19" flat panel monitor with both vga and dvi inputs. Obviously I want to use the dvi input.

I have a dual monitor video card (EVGA GeForce 4) that has both vga and dvi outputs (and also VIVO....which I occasionally use).

Problem is that the vga output on the video card is the "primary" output and the dvi output is "secondary", and there is no way to change this. As such once I'm in Windows the dvi output works just fine. However, before Windows starts I have no video during boot up.

I've spoken with both EVGA and the monitor manufacturer. There is nothing I can do with the current video card other then use the vga output direct or with a vga to dvi adaptor (which I happen to have from the days when I used the card for dual monitors).

So, I'm looking for a new video card. I would like to keep the vivo (video in/video out) video capture, but that is not critical.

As I look at dvi video cards they all seem to be dual monitor with both vga and dvi outputs. Seems I'd be heading right back into the same spot I'm in now.

Anyone able to enlighten me on this matter?

Thanks,
BH Davis
