the issue in this case is that the CUBX uses a socket interface whereas the chipset and termination scheme was developed for the Slot1 format. The result is that there is considerable signal ringing on the host bus that precludes - at least the earlier versions of that board - from running at higher bus speeds. I forgot what the exact cutoff rate was in this particular case but if my memory serves me correctly, it was somewhere near 138 MHz (sorry, it's been about 5 years since I looked at that board so I could be wrong)
