Holy Moly 300MHz/600DDR @ 2.5 Cas !

"Conclusion

Our testing supports two major conjectures:

1] Using DDR600 can give you a LOT of extra performance compared to DDR400 with fast processor cores

2] Memory bandwidth and latencies can matter as much as faster processors

Of course the best of all worlds would be very low latency very high speed memory with top of the line very high speed processors - but its pretty amazing how large an increase in performance you can get if you know what you are doing and really tweak your system.

I found that the OCZ PC4800 memory functioned as advertised; it worked great at the DDR600 setting, and I was even able to run it at 2.5-4-4-8 2T which is faster than the 2.5-4-4-10 2T it is guaranteed to work at.

Would lower latencies help? Definitely.

But the increased memory bus speed makes up a large portion of what lower latencies would get you, at least when you are mostly reading from memory - which is usually the case.

I'd love to get my hands on memory that could run at 2.0-2-2-2-7 1T at DDR600, but I am not sure that enough parts would pass that stringent a binning process. And frankly, the gains in overall system speed would be minimal.

As the memory works better than advertised, I do not hesitate to recommend it.

Recommended."
