If the email method fails after a few weeks you could do some steps to find your anwser but it gets hairy. You will need a multi meter or better yet someone who has one & knows how to use it.

I started explaning the steps & its like writing a book & I am not the best speller or the clearest writer so I have to redo or think it thru, besides being a slow typer to.

The very last method to figure out the polarity if the other way fails would involve opening the laptop & tracing the plug wires to a battery or wall plug power.
So let us know what happens.
