I be one of those lurkers...

This was a question that I had a long time ago when trying to set up a home projector to a computer. Mine is about 25 feet.

IIRC, it is about 50-75 feet before signal degradation happens without repeaters/signal boosters. (This may be incorrect with the higher bandwidth cables; there are new claims to over 1000ft.) The real vga cables that can be purchase (from what I have seen) has about a maximum of about 25-30 ft, however at a considerable cost. It turns out that you can use cat 5e twisted pair cable along with a pair rat shack 15 pin VGA connectors to get a 50 foot vga cable. You will need a solder iron, also. IMHO, it is more than enough for most people. Overall, you will have long enough cable for about $20 US. It does work.

Similar equipment can be purchased at a high price.
