I want to upgrade to a new hard drive on a friend's computer but not have to reload all programs etc.

Some reviews I've read say this "cloning" can be done with Norton Ghost, but I've read some nasty reports on it's reliability as a backup package. The computer uses Windows ME so I'd need the older version of Ghost.

Can you recommend a software package that would reliably make the transfer for me?
