Looks nice, but me no like vents

As part of my very old ProLogic surround setup, I have a pair of four-way tower speakers (2x10"W+M+T) and a passive DVC 12" sub (later made active with a cheap 200W stereo receiver). All three are ported designs, and in spite of a decent kick the bass accuracy just isn't there. Paper-cone drivers are part of the problem (all old RadioShack stuff that was purchased at 50% off or more), but when I built my 10" car sub box, I went with 3/4" particle board and a sealed-box design. I was so tickled with the results that, when I later built a pair of 2-way bookshelf speakers with 8" woofers, I used 3/4" particle board and a sealed-box form again.

Although they don't have the same amount of pure "hit," those two bookshelvers and an old Pioneer 20W tuner/amp have a cleaner and fuller audio spectrum than my entire ProLogic setup, so I'm probably going to stick with port-free, sealed-box designs from hereon.
