Even by RealFlight's own "recommended" specifications, your proposed setup is overkill. Personally, I would go with the AMD option using an FX51 or FX53 instead of the FX55, cut the RAM back to 2GB (you can always upgrade that later with minimal pain), maybe even scale the video card back a bit, and then focus on a larger display.

For about $1-2k more than you're going to spend on that plasma monitor, you could get a much larger DLP HDTV television or maybe even a home theater-quality projector. High-resolution is useful up to a point, but ultimately the physical size of the screen will determine how "immersive" the experience is IMO.
