Some of the instructions I found online line said that using xp boot CD & the recovery console with the (bootcfg /rebuild) would work, only it did not want to see win 98. I am also sure I never went back to the orginal boot.ini file either when I did moved things back. Before yesterday those HD's had already been moved around abit. I was forced to shift because of the chipset NF2 refused to stay working in the orginal order (both on primary) with only one of the HD's receiving the +5v & +12v power at a time.
Ya all the reading I did yesterday there was not one mention of the MBR. That could be what broke down with the NF2 now I have changed the 98 HD to 98 SE so I assume its been modified again even more. Another method to cover.
Ya with the boot.ini files W2K was all over the place but not much coverage with XP. & the switch's didnt seem to work either.
