That commercial for Cold Heat is old. I seen how big the tip was an laughted. I knew the soldier made the connection & I figured that the tip was two tubes one tube outside the main tube shaft, but being split makes it even cheaper. In this case size does matter & its smaller that wins out & is better. Electronics is just getting too small & cheap of a price to brother to repair very many things. & my eyes are getting weaker to & that makes the job harder, I keep a 10x magifier around me plus a very bright flashlight, but my joke for modern electronics is I need an electron microscope to make out most of the surface mount parts & soldier joints. I had considered myself a soldier-er I had lots of practice but the new modern spacing is even hard for me & I have missed many times to. I dont have a soldier station but I do have a decent pen iron ( medium heat) & the tip is real fine when new. My problem now is I have no idea where to get new tips. Where I got the pen is out of bussiness now & the tip place only does bussiness's now & is internet only thought they did have 3 to 5 stores in the detroit area in the past. Of course I have lower & higher heat models but the tips are big. Even working on multible LEDs my good pen is to low of a heat setting & the others are to big. Normally I would have gotten something good by now & fix it right, but I now find I like to create things but I dont like to build them anymore, LoL. The stripping tool is tempting, but I can strip a wire with a pair of wire cutters & that needs practice also I dont do much wiring any more now that I am retired.
