Oh I guess so,yes. I think it's widely known that Opterons shine in branch intensive apps like big databases and search algos. New 2MB Xeons seems to do fine too but at the price of much higher power requirements.

I'd sell loads of them to our customers, it's just that my partners are ver conservative to say the least. And our favorite whitebox builder doesn't carry many Opteron boxes (just one quad barebone). But has very nice 2U xeons intel barbones.
