Thanks again for your input, wondering if we should continue through mail or if the conversation has any public interest
Lets say like this to be a bit more specific yet not writing too much:
We're going to control three "rooms". Each room can contain a group of people that are supposed to solve a problem within a certain amount of time (3 min). If the problem is solved within the time, they can continue to the next room. If not, they have to go out through the exit and start all over.
If they manage all three rooms, they are finished.
In every room there are a few I/O's, some fixed and some different. Fixed I/O's is for instance door lock, movement sensor, magnetic check if door is open or closed and 1-2 lights. These I/O's are the same for each room = 3x5 or more I/O.
Then we have inputs for the problem. First room, 2 inputs. Second room, 8. Third room, 4x5 = 20...
First room, photo cell and sensor.
Second room, single push button (correct one) to solve problem.
Third room, correct combination of push buttons... 4x5... and all 4 correct buttons should be pressed simultaneously.
If you have any further tips, I'd appreciate them. To make things even nicer, once that's accomplished we wanna have TCP/IP communication to and from the PIC
