Because if you fly over to this X86-64 conversation, it appears as if the enthusiastic Linuxistic folk have already got their act together.
Linux 2.6.10rc2-1 fully supports AMD dual processors. The story for Intel is different. As one of our correspondents notes, the new faux acronym of the day is chiplevel multi processing, or CMP for short.
Them Linux folk have been wooed by AMD and have christened Intel's hyperthreading CMP_Legacy.
Legacy. We've heard of it. It's what you wear on your, er, legs.
