Hello,

I think my CPU is finally getting ready to bite the dust and was wondering if any of the following may indicate this is the case.

1.Getting stop messages accompanied by the blue screen of death after login(when able to get that far), then rebooting and getting a different stop message than the original and never the same two.

2.Swapped out previously working hard drives and each operating system is mysterious missing a file. I just have one hard drive in the machine at a time and I can usually login once under safe mode, then I try to restart normally and get the missing file/dll message saying that I need to repair the operating system.

3.I try to repair with the install CD with no luck so I reformat and reinstall operating system. I've tried win98, 2k and xp. Then I get a lovely message right before the install is complete saying it can't find a file on the install CD while it's in the cdrom and I can browse to the missing file but the cpu can't/won't see it. It's a different file every time, no two the same. So now I have another corrupt install.

4.I set the bios to load fail-safe defaults, nothing.

5.I heard a clicking coming from somewhere, thinking it was a hard drive so that's why I'm playing hard drive roulette. CPU temp is 116F after a stop message episode, unfortunately I don't know how hot it gets before the stop message episode.

6.When I can login under safe mode, I try to run windows update but this usually causes a blue screen of death and reboot halfway through the install with a corrupt OS as the result.

The motherboard(Soyo P4X400dragon ultra platinum)is 2 years old and used to be operating 24 hours a day for 1 1/2 of the 2 years. I read that it could be memory or bios or a driver or cpu but does anyone else think the cpu is screaming bloody murder? Thanks, no one.
