OK I've networked two comps togther before but its been a while and I've only done it w/ a crossover cable. I now have a old IBM thinkpad and my other desktop. I bought a 5 port switch 10/100mbps I have a linksys 10/100mbps card in my desktop and the network card that came with the laptop. Its a IBM credit card adapter, Ethernet II w/ what looks like a proprietary connection at the card (not a rj-45). From what it says in the connection properties its only 10mbps. Now I hooked the comp to the switch and the light on the switch came on. I hook the laptop to it and nothing. The computer thinks there is a connection because the card is in but I think the cable is probably bad. Im I in the right place or missing somethng?
