Hi Connie,

Yes, I did read your post. It really informative! I checked out MS's site, and from your post, and what is said at microsoft, it looks like the problem has to do with some paging file problem. So the problem could be
1) the hard drive itself
2) bad ram
3) bad cpu/ram messing up the hard drive.

Just around the time everything started acting up, I changed hard drive (bought a 120Gb seagate serial ata drive). I can't remember if the problems before or after I changed drives though. Last night the hard drive was getting pretty messed up, but it could just be because of the random crashes making bad things happen to it.

So I'm now in the process of reinstalling everything on my old drive to see if problems still happen. I have to start from scratch because my ghost images were made when I had the new drive, and I want to rule out any data problems...

Anyway, the squealing seems to be unrelated to the hard drive (I've tried three of them), but maybe it's all connected in some way.
