Maxtor's, WD's, Segates and a couple old Quantum Fireball's. That new Segate I put in for the neighbor last week (80gig) is very quiet. Can't hear it running. This Segate in my machine is very quiet too. Once in awhile you hear it if your really listening for it. I have a 60 gig IBM that's pretty quiet.

I'm not big on WD but they have gotten better. The real early one's were tough drives though, then they made mostly crap for awhile and now they're getting back on par. So I don't rule them out anymore. I ran Maxtor's for a long time, but after this Segate (60gig) of mine I decided to use them again. After all 5 year warranty, you can't go wrong. That Samsung I put in the other neighbors was really quiet too and pretty snappy.
