So I just bought this used laptop and am thinking of updating the cpu, but there are a few questions I"ve been unable to find the answers to:
I have 266mhz Ram (pc2100), does this mean my fsb speed on my chipset (ATI IGP 320) is 266? If so, does that mean I can install any athlon-xp as long as its 266 fsb?
I currently am running a mobile athlon xp 1500+ and would like to upgrade to the 2600+, but am concerned about voltage and wattage issues (don't want to buy a chip just to fry it).
Are these valid concerns? Is the FSB the only thing that matters? I've seen that the 2600+ comes in both 35w and 45w flavors, how can i determine what mine is?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated--thanks!
