>Should you wait for 12x DVD writers? Not necessary, since a 8x writer will takes less than 10 minutes to fill up a 4.3GB DVD+R, a 12x writer probably can finish the job only 1 to 2 minutes faster. This is because the rated speed is the maximum speed which is only achievable towards the end of the disc. As the results, the actual burn time is not proportional to the rated speed. Furthermore, there are no 12x media in the market yet and you will probably ended up burning at 8x with a 12x writer, so it is not very worth it to pay the premium for such an insignificant gain. |
