The unit should automatically detect the new processor and set it accordingly. Usually, if this process is occurring correctly the unit will report the processor name and speed at the POST screen, i.e. the initial screen you see when the computer first powers up (although there are exceptions). Restart the computer and take a look -- does it say something to the effect of "Intel Pentium III (tm) processor at 1.0GHz"?
