Hi all,
I'm new to the board but would appreciate any answers you can give.

I've just sent for a boxed AMD XP2200 Thoroughbred to fit into my Asus A7A266 PCB Rev 1.03. After a very quick search on the net it seemed viable (no mention of board revisions at the time). However, after online purchase, further research revealed incompatibility.

Rather than unpack and then try to install the thing, does anyone know from experience if I've made a bad choice? If that is the case I will simply return the chip.

But, If it is possible to install then I'm willing to have a go and I'm not afraid to make BIOS/jumper changes. Unfortunately I have no experience with this type of upgrade and need to know as much as possible to carry out the procedure (it's the settings that worry me, not the physical installation, which appears straightforward).

Any help would be more than welcome,
thanks in advance.

PS this might suit Ludicrous (Frank) - I stumbled on a previous post made here whilst searching in google, but can't find the original thread.
