We have a Windows 2000 machine at work here that's having problems recognizing that a disc is in the cd-rom drive (not always, but most of the time). The drive has been switched with another known working drive, and the problem persisted. We even hooked up an external USB cd burner and it has the same problem.
This leads me to believe it's not a hardware related issue. Is there something I'm overlooking?
If it's a software related issue, is there anything I can do short of reformatting and reinstalling windows?
