Hugh's theory coincides with yours so I will throw one more question and would like to thank you for your in-depth explanation of the subject. I really appreciate it. If all your theories are correct, why then does the temperature of the CPU goes up to 50-65 degrees when the CPU is at peak which happens after intensive use of the computer like playing
games? This is also the time that the computer crashes. It should remain steady at 30-40 degrees if the heatsink/fan is efficient in removing heat. This only proves that the heatsink/fan cannot catch up or inefficient with heat removal especially if the CPU is overclocked. Heat is kinetic energy, so it will go in all direction towards the colder environment regardless of the material whether copper, aluminum or your hand if you touch it because the transfer of heat is molecular. But you make it sound like heat is programmed to follow the heatsink from the die. This is fallacious. It probably heats up the whole CPU first then go to the heatsink. The heatsink/fan is only 1/2 of the cooling process. The warmed air inside the computer case should also go outside and the cold air in the room should enter the case otherwise, the same thing happens. And how come my Celeron 800 is still going after 2 days without over-heating? If I am completely wrong then none of my computers should still be going? Thanks.
