Bob, The principle of conduction means exchange of kinetic energy between molecules. So the heat coming from the die or core will tend to spread away from the source making the whole CPU basically a heatsink in itself. That is why the whole CPU is hot. If you are suggesting that the die is the only area in the CPU that is hot then there is something wrong with your physics. If you blow the CPU directly then the removal of heat is faster than waiting for it to go to the heatsink which in my opinion is inefficient in doing so. That's why we have water cooler that does not do the job. Today, we have CPUs running at above 3.0 Ghz but the CPU coolers carried the
same problems even if the designs were changed in
so many ways and configuration. Just an observation as a consumer.
