Who is confusing who? The idea is very simple and
I don't really understand why you don't understand it. I can't think of any thermal or mechanical reason why this idea will damage the CPU. Cool air is better than hot air when it comes to cooling the CPU and it is not necessary to blow it from the heatsink. I don't pretend to be an expert but I just found out that punching a hole through the heatsink reduces the temperature of the CPU just as effectively. There are people out there who spend tons of money trying to achieve cooling when a simple holes will do the trick. Have you ever wondered why there are so many types and brands of heatsink/fan out there with very marginal result? Why not use the fan directly on the CPU? Maybe it will a better job?
