As David says, there may be a few things you need to eliminate as problem(s) before you can put a finger on it.
You may have some memory issues. If you have another stick of PC2100 DDR, try it and see if you can repeat the errors. Keep in mind that your drive may be riddled with errors from bad writes and shutdowns from your earlier problems. You may want to gut and reload after changing your memory out. If it persists, disable the onboard and or onchip cache memory and see if you can repeat the errors.
Another thing: you are using a hardrive that has been associated with some bad press. Have you checked your harddrive for errors? (Beyond what scandisk does). Also, SB Lives were notorious for screwing with interupts. Remove the sound card and see if you can repeat the errors.
