I fixed a HD like that one before. I believe I used Norton Utils all I had to do was figure which
cluster # & do some math like scandisk surface test or NU till freezed @ & then figure out which cluster # it was in NU & I just marked the cluster # in the FAT as bad. & never a problem again unless you run SpinRite as it will try to read & fix the bad sector & I believe you would have to mark the cluster bad again.
