Contact cleaner - the type WITH lubricant. NOT zero residue.

Spray a LITTLE in the plug hole, wipe some on the plug end.

Work it in and out a little. In and out. In and....

(THAT is what got ME in trouble!! )

If nothing else, WD-40 to the rescue. It's NOT peanut butter - put it on THIN!

A little in the volume / bass / treble controls won't hurt, either.
