Some of the later XPs seem to have an L5 bridge cut that prevents SMP operation. I can't find a link now but IIRC, look at the bridges labeled "L5" -- if the one FARTHEST from the L5 label is cut, SMP is disabled. Reconnect it.

XPs should work fine on a Tyan Thunder K7. Most of the newer "MPX" boards will also run dualie XPs, although they are supposed to run a BIOS-level check and run uniprocessor mode if an XP is found in either socket. But they generally don't seem to do that so...
