Just made a switch...

From cellie to athlon. My cellie out-performs -in my opinion- the athlon in internet browsing. I was so surprised how much faster my cellie is (it was a 400mhz cellie [vs a 1800XP])

Other than that, the athlon SMOKES the cellie in UT, Q3, SOF -also in Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, 3D Studios R2, Poser 4, and AutoCAD 2000. It's not the vid card either -I'm still using my Voodoo II (circa 1997) from my old box. But that's to be expected because the proc's clock cycles roughly 4x faster.

The 3D runs fast, despite the fact that I'm using an old Voodoo card. But, understand, when you make a mobo/proc/RAM upgrade it will only be as fast as its weakest component. But that shouldn't be a prob since you have a GeForce 4.

If you're going to OC, make sure you have lots of cooling junk on the Athlon because AMD fizzles, man. It doesn't matter the mobo; it won't kick in fast enough -it'll just burn out. I've fried a T-bird. If you're gonna go with the P4 -you're fine: it'll freeze and crash when it overheats, but it won't fry itself.
