I walk out my door today and see a nice 2k1/2k2 Civic. It has some nice aftermarket wheels. As I get closer, I see it has Acura OEM wheels. I walk to the back of the car and the owner shaved off the Honda labels and replaced them all with Acura labels. Huh? I'd like an RSX too, bub, but a Civic is not an Acura. I'm ashamed to be a Civic owner now. I'm going to get a VW Golf Turbo right now
I don't understand the hostility, Stimp. Do you own stock in Texaco? I agree that if VW did manufacture this vehicle, it has to be priced like a low/mid motorcycle if they want to sell them. As for "real use", it does have real use. As a second vehicle used for a daily work commute, it would be perfect. I dare say at least 90% of the private cars/trucks driven to work in the morning have only the driver and no passengers. A two-seat ultra light would make a perfect fit between utility and economy. As shown by racing cars, a small vehicle can withstand a crash and keep the driver unharmed. Carbon fiber is expensive, but not as expensive as you think. With proper design, CF can be a cost effective structural material. Unfortunately, the big 3 are locked in a vicious cycle have having this year's car paying for last year's steel stamping machines, giving no incentive to try to switch to new materials.
