scandisk did it's thing...

after scan disk had it's way with the drive and did whatever it thought necessary to fix the errors, we ended up with a pile of "file###.chk" files and "dir####" directories.
We also ran the western digital diagnostic floppy on it. It said there was some error and then said it had repaired it after a couple seconds.
Dad ran scandisk again after this and the surface test didn't complain.

Right now we have it as a slave on my other computer and are browsing through the renamed folders looking for data to back up.


I guess my main question at this point is:
Is this drive ok to keep using? format it and start over with windows? Or is there some serious problem that's going to cause repeat errors down the road? etc..
