well, I just made a win95 startup disk with my old machine that I dont' care about and did the same exact thing (booted with disk and ran fdisk /mbr) and well it's still booting to win95.
so I guess that wouldn't have been the issue??
or would it be any different....
I dunno

Any ideas what might've been the problem with this other machine (why it wouldn't boot windows).
Would having our battery backup unit sitting right next to the case have any weird effects on the hard drive?
