Hi again, a couple of days ago, I posted about how my new cable modem network wouldnt work properly with Xp, but I finally fixed it. Xp works fine with networking, everything was a breeze once I finally put the NIC into another PCI slot. Yep, that was the whole problem, the only change I made was switching the slot of the card on a whim, and suddenly it worked when I rebooted. This is absolutely ridiculous, because the card worked perfectly in the other slot when I plugged directly into the cable modem, but whatever, it works now. The equipment in question is an ASUS A7V mobo with a non-OC'ed athlon 1GHZ processor, non OC'ed RAM, a Linksys LNE100TX NIC, a linksys 5 port hub, and an RCA cable modem, so if anyone else out there runs into the same problem as me, just put the NIC in another slot and save yourself 4 days of being pissed at how windows XP doesnt give you enough options to click around with!
